Carbon Management and Climate Strategies

WASTE MANAGEMENT AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY

In line with our sustainability approach, we aim to reduce waste in our production processes, promote reuse, and preserve natural resources.

We prioritize the use of biomass-based waste instead of fossil fuels in meeting our energy needs. This approach helps reduce our carbon emissions while supporting the reuse of waste generated by various industries.

By utilizing mineral-rich waste and by-products as raw materials, we reduce natural-resource consumption and strengthen our circular-economy approach.

We separate waste at the source throughout our production processes and send it to licensed facilities for recycling, recovery, and disposal. This approach minimizes our environmental impact and supports concrete steps toward a sustainable future.

ENERGY EFFICIENCY AND FUTURE APPROACHES

We consider energy management a cornerstone of sustainability and work with a continuous-improvement mindset to increase efficiency and reduce total consumption.

With our existing and planned Solar Power Plant (SPP) investments, we aim to increase the share of renewable energy in our supply and reduce our carbon footprint.

We closely monitor waste heat generated from production processes and implement projects that maximize our ability to convert waste heat into electricity. This approach helps reduce both energy costs and environmental impacts.

We closely follow the potential of hydrogen in energy transformation. In particular, we evaluate the potential use of hydrogen as an alternative fuel in rotary kilns and monitor advancements in this field.

WATER MANAGEMENT

We work diligently to ensure the efficient use of water resources, reduce wastewater through recovery practices, and maintain continuity in production processes. We also consider the water risks arising from climate change and declining water resources and develop long-term strategies accordingly.

CLEAN AIR AND EMISSION CONTROL

In line with our sustainability goals, we closely monitor all emissions arising from our production processes and implement practices to reduce their environmental impacts. In addition to carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases, we carry out continuous improvement efforts to control dust, nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur dioxide (SO₂), and other pollutant emissions.

Pollutants released during combustion include nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds (VOC), total organic carbon (TOC), hydrogen fluoride (HF), hydrogen chloride (HCl), dioxins, and furans. We measure emissions from rotary-kiln stacks through continuous-monitoring systems and share results with relevant authorities.

We control dust emissions generated during cement production using bag-filter systems. By using enclosed areas and equipment during raw-material preparation, handling, and storage, we keep dust emissions at minimal levels.
