Our Sustainability Mission and Commitments

By placing sustainability at the core of our business, we adopt a holistic approach across environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas. By systematically managing the life-cycle impacts of our products and production processes, we aim to create value both for our business results and for the positive transformation of our planet.

Our Sustainability Approach

Our sustainability strategy is built on reducing our carbon footprint, ensuring the efficient use of energy and water resources, strengthening waste management, expanding circular economy practices, and fostering strong engagement with society.

With our low-carbon cement production and innovative product portfolio, we aim to lead the industry in reducing carbon emissions. In this regard, we continuously pursue improvement initiatives in areas such as the efficient use of natural resources, energy efficiency, and the use of alternative fuels and raw materials.

Our Goals and Roadmap

In line with the sustainability roadmap we defined in 2019, we have set our targets for 2026 and 2034. By defining these goals across environmental, social, and economic dimensions, we have integrated them into our business processes.

We support all our goals with clear Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to facilitate performance measurement. In this way, we regularly monitor and evaluate our sustainability performance and transparently report areas for improvement.

Corporate Governance and Organizational Structure

Our Sustainability Committee is chaired by our Technical Deputy General Manager, who is also a member of the Executive Board. This structure ensures that our sustainability goals are embraced at the senior management level and effectively integrated into our decision-making processes.

Our expert teams within the Committee carry out their work under six main focus areas: carbon management, energy efficiency, water and waste management, employee development, occupational health and safety, and community and stakeholder relations. We develop projects in these priority areas.

Transparency and Reporting

As Çimko Cement and Concrete, we measure and disclose our sustainability performance in line with international standards. We publish our Sustainability Report, which includes our approach, strategy, and performance indicators across environmental, social, and corporate governance areas, in accordance with the GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) standards.

Our Sustainable Business Model

At Çimko, we conduct all our activities in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). By placing the universal principles of sustainability at the core of our business model, we create value throughout our service cycle and contribute directly to six SDGs and indirectly to six others, totaling contributions to 12 different SDGs.

The eight focus areas we have identified—Occupational Health and Safety, Customer Satisfaction, Water Management, Energy Management, Climate Change and Emissions Management, Biodiversity Conservation, Resource Efficiency and Waste Management, and Stakeholder Engagement and Diversity & Inclusion—form the foundation of our sustainability strategy.

With a strong sense of responsibility for the future of our planet, we carefully manage our impacts on the environment, society, and the economy, and regard contributing to a more just, livable, and resilient world as our core mission at every step.

Çimko Sustainability Priorities

Establishing an effective sustainability strategy begins with identifying the right priorities. At Çimko, we consider determining the areas on which we should focus as a key priority in order to accurately analyze our environmental, social, and economic impacts and manage them effectively.

As a result of our efforts, we have identified six main focus areas that form the foundation of our sustainability strategy:

1.Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)

2.Climate and Environment

3.Biodiversity

4.Sustainable Construction

5.Stakeholder Engagement

6.Supply Chain

Through the initiatives we carry out in these areas, we aim to reduce our environmental and social impacts while creating long-term value.

Accordingly, we regularly review our sustainability priorities and continuously update them based on the feedback received from our internal and external stakeholders. Through analyses that take into account national and international sustainability agendas, sectoral trends, and stakeholder expectations, we assess risks and opportunities using a holistic approach.
